Quantum Threat Model and KONET Security Strategy

To ensure long-term resistance to tampering and cryptographic sustainability of the network, KONET natively integrates the CRYSTALS-Dilithium (FIPS 204, ML-DSA) signature algorithm—finalized as a NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) post-quantum cryptography (PQC) standard—as a core security mechanism of the network, while maintaining backward compatibility with existing elliptic curve–based signature schemes (ECDSA, EdDSA). This approach proactively addresses the structural risk that existing public-key signature systems may be rendered ineffective by future quantum computing attacks leveraging algorithms such as Shor’s algorithm.
